MAGCS Committees 2024
The strength of MAGCS is in its volunteers that provide the dedication and energy not only to get the job done, but to develop and enhance each phase of every task.  The MAGCS benefits from the work ethic instilled in its members from the moment an individual comes forward to help.

The MAGCS currently has fourteen standing committees. At present each Director is responsible for chairing one or two committees. The committee structure is important to the preservation and advancement of MAGCS. If you are interested in helping the MAGCS, please click here. Arrangements and Golf
Chairman: Bill Meyer, Heritage Oaks Golf Club
Co-Chair: Adam Wiles, The Glen Club
Primary Responsibilities: To initialize, negotiate, and set up monthly meetings and other social  and educational events for the membership. Venues are selected by this committee.

Benevolence
Chairman: Luke Cella, MAGCS

Education
Chairman: Andrew Cross, Village Links of Glen Ellyn
Co-Chair: Craig Kight, Eagle Brook Country Club
Responsibilities: To arrange topics and speakers for each monthly meeting and other educational events. This committee prepares develops the Annual Turf Clinic, the educational event of the year for MAGCS. Members of the education committee also contribute to On Course, the magazine of the MAGCS.

Editorial 
Editorial Chairman: Dan Stahl, Orchard Valley Golf Course
Co-Chair: Rob Bredemus, McHenry Country Club
Primary Responsibilities: Ensure On Course, the MAGCS monthly periodical, continues to be the cornerstone means of communication to promote advancements and news of our membership.

Social Media and Public Relations
Executive Committee 
Primary Responsibilities: Work with local media to promote the profession of golf course management in a positive and respected viewpoint.

Employment & Membership
Chairman: Luke Cella, MAGCS
Primary Responsibilities:  This committee offers resources for clubs searching for qualified golf course superintendents as well as golf course superintendents searching for positions within the MAGCS region. Reviews membership benefits and services to ensure needs are met. Committee also develops and implements strategies for membership retention and growth.

Partnership Task Group

By-Laws & Nominating 
Chairman:  John Ekstrom, Inwood Golf Course
Primary Responsibilities: Review and recommend alterations needed within the written standards of the MAGCS.

Scholarship 
Chairman: Luke Cella, MAGCS
Primary Responsibilities: Develop and promote scholarship opportunities for the children of MAGCS members.

Commercial Advisory 
Chairman: Rusty Stachlewitz, Advanced Turf Solutions
Co-Chairman: John Ekstrom, Inwood Golf Course
Primary Responsibilities: Represents Associate membership class viewpoints and helps to promote MAGCS to non-members.

Class C Advisory 
Chairman: Andrew Cross, Village Links of Glen Ellyn
Co-Chairman: Jack Porter, Northmoor Country Club
Primary Responsibilities: Recommend, develop and provide specific membership benefits for the Assistant Golf Course Superintendents of MAGCS.

Class DT Advisory
Chairman: Bill Meyer, Heritage Oaks Golf Club
Co-Chariman: Ryan Deering, Rolling Green Country Club

Secretary/Treasury
Chairman: Matt McDonald, Water's Edge Golf Club
